1. adt.moe - Dedicated Akiba Tour Guide!

lists.moe - MyAnimeList style website with simpler layout!

Simple enough, this anime database website loosely replicate MyAnimeList. However, this site don't use MAL's database, it's separate. Now, this website didn't gain traction; extremely few users here, and majority of info on anime entries aren't entered in. The website design itself are in the modern (2013-) style. Each entry on the main page are clearly sorted. And on the entry page, there is User Activity, which is the difference. The feature is fine in this state as there are very few users. The recommendations tab is not yet implemented at the time of this writing.

As of right now, this .moe website might not fully take off with thousands of users. Still, a nice exercise in making an anime database website. May you someday start your own .moe website. This is Kagami Hirasawa, signing off.

Addendum

On December 30, 2015, the operator of the lists.moe website has contacted me! They got their surprise as I responds. A forums for lists.moe has been created on December 27... It's One Punch Man fanbase forums! Also, they've promised to have a site overhaul, with news feed, video entries and reviews, manga entries and review, and some more!

Rosin Entertainment is an indie visual novel development group. This group has created a short visual novel Pretty and is currently developing Starswirl Academy since 2012 with no set release date, but the demo is available for download. Both visual novels has and is being created with Ren'Py Visual Novel Engine. Rosin also has its development blog which uses Tumblr platform. Now, before continuing on to my first impressions, the main characters of Starswirl Academy is directly inspired by My Little Pony's Mane 6 (Main 6 pony characters). Is that a deal breaker? This .moe website is very simple and basic, for each refresh, you will receive a new picture of a character in cat form! Also, every picture comes with the artist name on the bottom right of the image. This webpage is managed by AnimeNeko, Now, the website is SSL certified with Comodo Positive SSL. I don't really think that is necessary. And because of that, the Positive SSL logo is visible from the bottom right of the page. Can't it be hidden somehow?

In my own words, this group seems to be quite established and also is quite a major group I found that make sure the iM@S franchise is still going strong. They have social media presence on Twitter. fps.moe - Figure Photo Studio Does Moe Introduction!

Here comes the introduction page of FPS. It is an Indonesian circle consisting of figure photographers called JF, Vixion, Allgroassai, nikicorny, and Kixkillradio. According to the site, its inception begins during Anime Festival Asia Indonesia on September 1-2, 2012 when they shared their photos to other attendees. Since then, FPS was present in several of Southeast Asian anime conventions. This is the only its introduction website found, perhaps they've moved to this new domain to take the opportunity of the .moe gTLD. FPS' main online presence is on Facebock.

He was looking forward to the general availability of the .moe domain since the announcement made back in April 2014 and has made his first .moe website which public after weeks of site building. The URL is self explanatory, he reviews and photoshoot figures, especially those from Good Smile Company.

This third website is being constructed (at the time of this writing) by Castanet Doujin, a character artist Doujin circle consisted of 3 people whose members are Xeph, Peach and Kaho. This circle is specialized in drawing characters from either other anime series that you might know, or from their original design. They draws in quite a wide range of suitability, from SFW to strong Ecchi. And their fully drawn works looks like those from standard anime studios!

Present-day overseas otaku culture and society that could affect the popularity of .moe domain

Even in the year 2014, the trend of moe still continues on without much trouble in the anime industry. However, the same thing could not be said for otaku culture and society of the overseas, especially Western otaku culture. In the last 5 years, the moe trend were still widely accepted among the otaku, but nowadays, the acceptance is quietly decreasing. One of the most popular or successful anime series don't have any aspect that could be associated with moe. Here are the two reasons I could think of that would affect the ultimate popularity of the .moe domain.

1. The most popular or successful anime series in 2013

Is it moe? Just forget it, it definitely isn't.

You would already recall Attack on Titan anime series which had swept deep into the majority of the otaku society. The anime is really, really exciting to watch, it is such a popular and successful anime in the large epic scale. But AoT does not intend to have any aspect of moe at all. Yes, it is totally true that the anime series can forgoes cuteness and still proves to be able to become popular or successful.

Who would be having the upcoming .moe domain?

Just from the gTLD name alone, which is .moe, you can already tell that this domain is definitely aimed to put together websites that will have anything related to anime or otherwise cute Japanese culture and stuff. But, who would likely be the people who wanted to have their new .moe domain up and running the most? Let my imagination and theory run just beyond this passage! Don't forget to read the gTLD Periods page to know how each phase is. I don't think anyone has explored this yet, so let's move on!

Phase 1 | During the Sunrise Period

During this period, it is most likely that the companies, especially Japanese animation studios, would be the one who would be quick to get their new official website with .moe domain name registered and have their trademarks secured. The chance of registering under .moe domain could be much higher if the animation studio are specialized in providing cute and lighthearted moe anime series to the industry.
