Who would be having the upcoming .moe domain?

Just from the gTLD name alone, which is .moe, you can already tell that this domain is definitely aimed to put together websites that will have anything related to anime or otherwise cute Japanese culture and stuff. But, who would likely be the people who wanted to have their new .moe domain up and running the most? Let my imagination and theory run just beyond this passage! Don't forget to read the gTLD Periods page to know how each phase is. I don't think anyone has explored this yet, so let's move on!

Phase 1 | During the Sunrise Period

During this period, it is most likely that the companies, especially Japanese animation studios, would be the one who would be quick to get their new official website with .moe domain name registered and have their trademarks secured. The chance of registering under .moe domain could be much higher if the animation studio are specialized in providing cute and lighthearted moe anime series to the industry.

Studios/companies who provide more serious, manly and complex anime series would still stay with .jp domain however, because the word moe is unfit for their anime series. That's not all the people who would wish to register in this period. Companies who focus on providing cute and moe products or merchandises of anime series are also likely to have their company website to end in .moe domain. Future game companies may also want to register under this domain, but the possibility is slim.

Phase 2 | During the Landrush Period

When Landrush period launches, you could expect some more small fraction of companies who couldn't register their domain name before during Sunrise period because the name being not eligible for trademark to register at this period of Landrush.

And also, most anime networks, podcasts and avid otaku who couldn't wait anymore for the lower prices of the General Availability period would be really tempted to rush in quickly and get their domain registered in .moe domain, assuming they always have the wish to have such a unique domain name like what .moe is being described.

Final Phase | General Availability

As stated by the domain's official page, Everyone can register their new website under .moe domain! The domain is now "for sale" and becomes just like any other existing Top-Level Domain names. Most people in this final phase would typically be the otaku and those having great passion for anime media. Blogs and news would be the most common website type. At this period, anything goes, because anyone can now have their new .moe domain.

Amusingly however, the name .moe coincidentally stands for Ministry of Education. This would mean that there could be some faint possibility that yes, Education Ministries might have their new official website registered under .moe domain! Although it would not actually happen, how weird is that? (lol)

In Summary

It would be definitely exciting to anticipate new official website of Japanese companies and what would it's content might be. Be reminded however that what I've theorized above comes from my intuition and not from an actual research.
